Reading a Certificate of Analysis

A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a document that provides verified test results for a specific batch of product. Understanding how to read a COA helps researchers assess quality and suitability for their work.

Key Sections of a COA

  1. Product Identification: Peptide name, batch/lot number, and date of testing.
  2. Purity (HPLC): Percentage of the target peptide. Higher values (e.g., 99%+) indicate greater purity.
  3. Mass Spectrometry: Confirms the molecular weight matches the expected peptide. The observed mass should align with the theoretical mass.
  4. Appearance: Physical description (e.g., white to off-white lyophilized powder).
  5. Additional Tests: May include endotoxin levels, residual solvent analysis, or amino acid composition.

What to Look For

  • Third-party laboratory verification (not in-house only)
  • Batch-specific results (not generic)
  • Date of analysis
  • Clear pass/fail or acceptance criteria

COAs are available for all our products and can be requested with your order or viewed on product pages.
